Greenchester (/greenchester/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Small Town located in Vuladi County, Yean County, within the Kingdom of Helsteria.

The name Greenchester is derived from the Sylvin language, as Greenchester was founded by Zleg̈geshë Northcutt, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Greenchester has a yearly average temperature of 25°C (77°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 29°C (84°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 22°C (71°F). Greenchester receives an average of 119 cm/y (46 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Greenchester covers an area of nearly 3 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 5108 m (16758 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Greenchester was founded durring the late 15th century in winter of the year 1386, by Zleg̈geshë Northcutt. The establishment of the new community went well, with no major obsticles durring construction.

Greenchester was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Greenchester is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Greenchester is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt paverstone streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town posesses a fortified albit thin wall of querried stone. This wall posesses most of the features of a castle wall, though it is constructed from cheeper inferior stone. It would pose a minor chalange for an attacking army, though it's clear the wall's true purpose is to crush the hopes of bandits and marauders. Unfortuantly, these failry decent fortifications are in extreem disrepair, so much so that one cannot tell if they are decaying from a lack of mantance or damage incured.

Before you’ve even set foot into the heart of Greenchester, you can smell it. The incense. It hangs about the town like a cloud. Monks, priests, and clerics are everywhere, all dedicated to the same god, all preforming the same rituals to bless and anoint building,s streets, people, animals, you name it they are or have blessed it. The same holysymbols is everywhere too. Its on buildings, on people, and even branded into livestock. This town certainly loves its god.

Cultural Notes

A substantial minority of the locals are descended from foreigners alien to their local neighbors. They may have been religious exiles, economic migrants, indigenous locals surrounded by the existing polity, or a foreign settlement conquered within the relatively recent past. The locals may not be enthusiastic about being ruled by others not of their kind, and their neighbors may look askance at the way foreign customs or even laws may be maintained.

Greenchester's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used which employed abundant symbolic geometry, using pure forms such as the circle and square, and plans are based on often symmetrical layouts featuring rectangular courtyards and halls. These structures were is decorated with carved stone or stucco reliefs and made use of colorful stone mosaics..

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Greenchester was attacked by savage tribes living nearby Greenchester. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Greenchester lost 169 people, 385 livestock, and 66 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 153, when members of Greenchester's militia enacted an operation to destroy a particular vault. The operation was complicated by a trusted officer who turned traitor and defects. The conflict ended with an assault and siege on the vault, which ended in victory for Greenchester's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Greenchester's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
